Eating out with the kids? Here are 9 valuable tips!
Eating out with children. Very nice, but it can be quite a challenge. Moreover, most children's menus in restaurants consist of fries, pancakes or pasta. Although it is of course fine if your child occasionally eats something unhealthy, this may not always be the case for you. Especially if you are on vacation and perhaps eat out every day, it is still a nice idea that your child also gets something healthy in between all the goodies.

Do you notice that you also run into certain challenges while eating out with your children? Then read along quickly, we have listed the best tips for you!
1. Give your kids something small in advance
Before you go to the restaurant you can already give your child something nutritious, for example some raw vegetables with dip, some olives or a Kindershake . This way they already have something to eat and you are at least sure that they have received vitamins that evening!
2. Ask for extra plates
Often your children want to eat what you have as soon as they see your food. Let them taste it, in most cases they are much faster able to taste new things outside the house than at home.
3. Be creative
Does your child not want fries or pancakes again? Then feel free to ask for a child's portion of another dish. What you can also do is order one or two side dishes, often your child has enough of this as a main course!

4. Bring snacks
No matter how nice and cozy eating out is, as we all know, we sometimes have to wait quite a long time before we are served our dishes. Especially for children, this can feel like hours. Children can become very impatient and hungry in this situation. You will be happy if you have fruit or rice cakes in your bag to keep them sweet for a while. Or, for example, the healthy chocolate muffins that you can easily make with the Kindershake powder.
5. Go for an early meal
Going out for lunch with kids can be a lot nicer than going out for dinner with them in the evening. They will be tired more quickly in the evening and, moreover, they may have to be prepared for bed immediately upon returning home. Would you rather eat out in the evening? Then go for a nice early dinner, around 17:00. This way you will be back home in time!
6. Bring baby snacks
Do you have a baby or toddler? Then it is useful to bring your own snacks. At this age, it is of no use to your child to eat fries with the rest, so this is not necessary. Feel free to ask the restaurant if they want to heat it up for you.

7. Go for a restaurant with a playground
Children have trouble sitting still for long periods of time, so it's ideal if the restaurant has a playground or a playroom! Is this more difficult to find in your area? Then bring something that your kids can enjoy themselves with, for example a coloring book.
8. Keep it short
Because it is difficult for children to sit still for a long time, it is smart not to make the meal too long. Only go for a main course and possibly a dessert if you notice that your children can easily sit still today.
9. Let it go and enjoy
Try not to set your expectations too high, eating out with kids will always be a challenge! Let them play if you can and don't focus too much on what others will think of you in the restaurant. In principle, the goal is not to eat well, but to have quality time together as a family. Let go of table manners and don't get annoyed if your child doesn't want to finish his or her plate. Set a good example yourself and keep in mind that it can be a party for your children too!
