Children's shake not tasty enough yet? (5 tips)

2.

In the beginning it can sometimes be a bit of a search for the right combination, after helping thousands of people we want to share some tips here that we have received from other parents and feedback from parents.

1. Prepare Kindershake in a liquid or dish they already like

If a child recognizes a flavor, they're more likely to like it. If your child likes yogurt, mix it into their regular yogurt (Pro tip: mix it well in the kitchen and present it as a tasty "vanilla yogurt"—they won't even realize it has shakes in it) or mix it into chocolate milk or oatmeal.

2. Use a little less powder in the beginning

The powder dissolves very well, but if you know your child might react to it, use a little less powder. Or start with half a shake the first few times; it's more about tasting. Forcing them to drink it all at once often doesn't work in the long run. Once you've found the right combination, give them the recommended daily serving.

3. Make it a party

We're getting a lot of feedback that children who make their own shakes (using a shaker cup or blender) drink them better. Give them a sense of pride by letting them make their own shakes (choose ingredients), put everything in the shaker/blender, and then, of course, shake them. This whole process seems to encourage children to see it as something fun, which makes the shake more enjoyable.

4. Try out recipes to find the right combination.

As a parent, you know your child best. Try different combinations to see what works best. You can also mix flavored shakes and, for example, make a vlaflip yogurt (half a banana with half a chocolate) or make delicious vanilla pancakes or cupcakes with it. You can also choose to blend it with extra fruit or ice cream. Or mix it into oatmeal or Brinta for an instant, delicious flavor. 😉

5. As a parent, don't put too much emphasis on healthy, but rather on tasty

Drinking it should be enjoyable, not just because Mom and Dad want it to be and think it's so important. This increases the likelihood that children will ask for it themselves.

We personally use Kindershake in the following way:

We mix Kindershake banana with my daughter Emily (7) into her yogurt, which she eats for breakfast with fruit and some oatmeal. My son Luke (5) was the inspiration for developing Kindershake; he always ate poorly and showed little interest in it, which led to him being underweight. We mix chocolate flavor into his oatmeal with some fruit for him.

On the day he has a 5:00 PM workout, we give him half a portion in the morning and another half a shake in the afternoon before his workout so he's full and energized for the workout. My son Jake (3 years old) eats well in the morning but often poorly after school. Most days, he gets a shake or pancakes (which we bake for two days) as a snack. This fills him up and he eats a good dinner in the evening as well.
