7 Fun Games for on the Go!

It's Summer Vacation! ☀️🏝️

Wonderful, of course, but keeping the kids entertained isn't always easy. Especially when they have to sit for long periods in the backseat or on an airplane seat.

But don't worry, we've compiled 7 fun games for you! They'll make the time fly by and make traveling a fun experience for everyone!

1. Fantasy hide-and-seek

When it's your turn, think of a good hiding spot in or around your house. The others have to ask yes-or-no questions to finally guess the location, for example:
"Are you hiding downstairs?"
"Are you hiding upstairs?"
"Are you hiding in one of the bedrooms?"
"Are you behind the curtains?"
etc.

2. Backseat Bingo

Make a list beforehand of things you might encounter along the way. Think of a truck, a river, a traffic light, a roundabout, a windmill, a flag, a cow, etc. If you're the first to spot an item, you can cross it off. The first person to cross everything off wins (or the person with the most items).

More ideas and pre-printed bingo cards can be found on the ANWB backseat bingo page .

3. Supermarket ABC game

In alphabetical order, you name the things you're going to buy at the supermarket. Players must also name all the previous items.

For example, the first player might begin with, "I'm going to the supermarket and buying potatoes ." The next player continues, "I'm going to the supermarket and buying potatoes and pineapples ."
Then: "I go to the supermarket and buy potatoes , bananas and cola ", "I go to the supermarket and buy potatoes , bananas , cola and liquorice ", etc.

4. The word snake

A classic! Choose a category or theme, such as animals, food and drink, or vacation. The first player starts with a word, and the second player must find a word that begins with the last letter of the previous word.

If the first word is " Dolphin ," the next player might say, for example, " Nachtingale ." Then " Leopard ," and so on.

5. Who am I?

Choose a famous person or figure, such as an athlete, movie hero, or cartoon character—use your imagination! The others should ask yes-or-no questions, for example:
"Do I know you from TV?"
"Are you a woman?"
"Do you have black hair?"
"Are you a real human being, flesh and blood?"
etc.

6. Be silent the longest

It's a matter of waiting to see if they fall for it, but if they do, it'll be wonderfully quiet for a while 😁. The challenge is "Who can stay quiet the longest?" Anyone who talks, laughs, or makes any other noise is out!

7. Search and count!

Choose something you encounter along the way that you can count. Think of trucks, cars of a certain color, cars of a certain brand, vans, etc. The first to find 5, 10, or 15 wins the game!

We wish you and your children a wonderful holiday! And if you want to give them something healthy while traveling, Kindershake is a great idea 😋
